Taste Testing
THE MILK TASTE TEST
You’ll need roughly 1 – 3 ml/g per litre/kilo of whatever you’re adding it to. The not-so-technical measurement is; roughly 10 drops flavours 250 ml of mixture.
Before using a flavour in your icing or mixture, the best way to test the flavour profile and strength is to do a milk-test. I’d suggest you use 250 ml of chilled milk with half a teaspoon of sugar added (or a few drops of our liquid sweetener).
If you’re going for the most precise way to do a taste test, start by adding 0.5 grams of flavouring to your 250 ml of chilled, sweetened milk. This is the middle of the road dilution; 2 g flavouring 1 kilo. Stir and taste. From there you will be able to gauge whether you need more, or less flavouring seeing as our suggested ratio is between 1 – 3 g per kilo.
Our flavouring is incredibly versatile, but it’s important to note that Flavour Nation thrives in the presence of sweetness (if you weren’t already aware), so adding it to unsweetened water, or coffee for example will offer a disappointing result.
Also, it’s important to not over-flavour as this will result in an unpleasant, bitter result.
Hope this info helps!
